Katra Film Series- 9th Annual Grand Finale

Katra Film Series, recipient of Google’s PowerUp Grant and recently named Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals on Film Freeway out of 10,000+ Film Festivals, kicks off its milestone 10th Year with its Ninth annual Grand Finale featuring the Top Works of 2020.

The finalists were carefully chosen by the festival’s programming team and an online audience vote during last year’s regular season and are available to watch anytime through 27th via XERB.TV. The finalists will compete for up to $10,000 in total in-kind prizes in the best of categories including our Grand Jury Prize and Audience Choice Award provided by Canon USA, Final Draft, JMR Rentals, NYWIFT, Procam NY, Screenblade, 3636 Studios, International Screenwriters’ Association, and more. The winners will be announced at an in-person socially distance award ceremony at the HiO store in Tribeca on Saturday, February 27th at 6pm.

Some of our highlights include: Master Maggie, directed by Matthew Bonifacio, about a celebrity acting coach (Lorraine Bracco- Good Fellas, The Sopranos) who is interrupted by an unknown actor (Neil Jain- The Quitter, The Deep and Dreamless Sleep) begging for her help for a TV audition. Includes Brian Dennehy (First Blood, Silverado) and Kenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live, Snakes on a Plane).

We also have Catherine Curtin (Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black) featured in Mann Overboard, Emmy-Award winning actor Joe Morton (Scandal, Eureka, Terminator 2) co-stars in A Million Eyes, and Patton Oswalt (Young Adult, Veep, Ratataouille) stars in The Priest. In our animated shorts category we have The Tattooed Torah which was shortlisted for this year’s Academy Awards, narrated by Ed Asner.

The Katra Film Series’ 9th Annual Grand Finale will also include a virtual workshop with Backstage Magazine on casting best practices, remote auditions and filmmaking trends and a Q&A discussion with the finalists via zoom. Additionally, all attendees will receive a $25-$30 Gift Card from the HiO store in Tribeca redeemable online or for in-store purchases of brands from around the world.
