Wu Assassins Trailer Release Party

By Jason Godbey, Creative Director, Behind the Rabbit Productions

This week I had the pleasure of attending the trailer release party for the upcoming Netflix series, Wu Assassins which stars Iko Uwais (The Raid, Raid 2) Byron Mann (Blood and Water) Celia Au (In a New York Minute), and Li Jun Li (The Exorcist series). Wu Assassins is the story of Kai Jin (Uwais), an aspiring chef, who discovers he is the last in a long line of warriors. He’s on a mission to bring down the triad and save Chinatown.

Attending the party were several stars from the series, namely Ms. Au who is also plays the lead in the indie feature, In a New York Minute which was directed by Ximan Li who we interviewed on the red carpet of the Soho International Film Festival where the that film took home the award for Best Feature.

The highlight of the evening (other than the Netflix logo adorned cupcakes) was the trailer which revealed some amazing martial arts action sequences and special effects. This series look like what would happen if The Raid met Big Trouble in Little China, but left out the camp. If you’re a fan of Hong Kong style action films fantasy, and sci-fi, this show looks to be made for you. Wu Assassins comes to Netflix on August 8th, 2019.
